Economie de la société de l'information
Enseignant :
- Christophe Benavent, Université Paris-Dauphine, PSL Research University
The seminar aims to present the main economic and managerial issues of the information society, with particular attention to its evolution over the last 40 years. It addresses the concepts and analyses used to account for it, such as network externalities, long tail phenomena, crowdsourcing economics, matching problems and multiversided markets. An important part of the course is devoted to the platform phenomenon and its consequences in terms of business model and strategy. It also focuses on the issue of digital transformation of companies and society. The question of the exploitation of massive data by artificial intelligence is constantly discussed throughout the course, both through its economic and socio-technical consequences, and through the criticism and regulations that it raises.
Each year, students are asked to analyse a business case from the digital world, in the context of group work leading to a presentation (subject 2022: music platforms)
